At the end of June, the new 18th issue of Studies of Transition States and Societies (STSS) was published. This issue of STSS contains four articles and three book reviews that each, in their own way, explore the gap between what institutions promise and what people actually experience. Read more here!

STSS values authenticity in scientific research, therefore we do not encourage use of AI for any purpose in the article preparation or review process. Studies of Transition States and Societies is published on a new, modern platform.

All previously published issues, as well as new Online First articles and book reviews, are available here. New submissions are welcome via this website, and future issues of the journal will be released on this platform.

Please note that user accounts from the previous system could not be migrated. All users are kindly asked to register to submit manuscripts, participate in peer review, and receive journal updates. Submissions already under review on the former platform will continue there during the transition period.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kairit Kall has joined the editorial team of Studies of Transition States and Societies (STSS) as a Junior Editor.

The journal Studies of Transition States and Societies (STSS) published by IISS and SOGOLAS at Tallinn University is dedicating its next issue to the memory of Prof. Ellu Saar, a long-time editor in chief of the journal.

We are now pleased to announce that Prof. Marge Unt has taken up the position of Editor-in-Chief for the sociology section of STSS.
