"EAST-WEST STUDIES" is a peer-reviewed Journal of Social Sciences of Tallinn University’s School of Governance, Law and Society. It was established in 2007 and has since published one issue annually. Every published article undergoes a double-blind peer-review process before being accepted for publication. The journal is open for submission for scholars from around the world and all social sciences disciplines; the international editorial board consists of respected academics from Estonian and international universities.

Call for Papers

East-West Studies invites submissions for its forthcoming issue.

The journal publishes peer-reviewed scholarship in general jurisprudence and focuses on legal theory, constitutionalism, public and private law, human rights law, international and European law, and comparative legal studies. Interdisciplinary contributions with a strong legal focus are also encouraged.

Deadline for the Next Issue is

15 September 2026

Manuscripts submitted by this date will be considered for the upcoming issue. Submissions are welcome at any time and will be considered on a rolling basis for future issues.

All articles must present original research and comply with the journal’s submission guidelines.

This is the second issue of the East-West-Studies journal's new series. This time there is no special focus, but the reader will find a miscellaneous group of articles, submitted by scholars from different countries, European and not, and written with interdisciplinary sensibility. They all deal with important questions that are marking our time. War, constitutional rights and values, the nature of legal norms, penal populism, ordo-liberalism, and the growth of social inequalities are the diverse area dealt with in the journal in this new issue. All these articles are contributions to the discussion and the understanding of matters that scholars but above all citizens face when acting within the legal and political dimension that define their location in the social world.
