Marge Unt

Marge Unt is Professor of Comparative Sociology at the Institute of International Social Studies, Tallinn University, and Editor in Chief of Studies of Transition States and Societies. She has led and contributed to numerous international research projects (including EXCEPT, EUROSHIP, Mapineq, LEARN, VETPrep) and advised government departments in Estonia, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, and Peru. Her research examines life course dynamics from a comparative perspective, focusing on youth transitions to adulthood, motherhood penalties in the labor market, and late-career trajectories. She explores how social networks, institutions, and norms shape individual life courses, highlighting mechanisms that influence cumulative inequalities and well-being.
